Lights are Changing: A Pitmaster is born

As you may have read on New York Magazine's ever-rewarding Grub Street and over on the fantastic WhiteTrashBBQ Blog, I have been offered the job of Pitmaster at B.R. Guest's new joint, Wildwood BBQ. I am humbled by the opportunity and the tremendous outpouring of support and encouragement that I've received. Thank you, my friends.

It's been a bumpy ride these last few months--- from my mother's passing just about 7 weeks ago to this new chapter in life. Things are never neat and easy, are they?

Well, now I'm hungry....

Brisket, anyone?

Or do I want a ribeye and some Spanish rice? Can't live on bbq alone, can I?

If only we had some chocolate chip ice cream for dessert....

Ta-da!

And a palate cleansing tune for you. The awesome Gram Parsons singing one of my faves.

Congratulations!

I heard someone say the other day that if you do what you love, you'll never 'work' a day the rest of your life. Hope you find that true for you and enjoy great success.

Thanks, Terry_Jim!

What do they say about a bad day fishing? Beats a good day in the cubicle....something like that.

This is a whole new life with a whole new set of possibilities. I feel that as long as I'm following my heart, my joy and my passion, that happiness should come along, too. Best to you and yours!

I'm sorry about being so out of touch. I'm a bad friend in blogging. You're so loyal to my page I promise from here on out I will be a better blog pal. See you on the flip side,

Yo Bro!

Awsome news. Now remember to write down as many corporate secrets as you can an bring them to your next venture (which hopefully includes the west coast and me!)

Gram Parsons is the man. Have you heard the newly unearthed (from the Grateful Dead tape vault) Flying Burrito Bros. Live at the Filmore West? It sounds so good it brings tears to mah eyes! I'm testifying here...

Actually, I was misinformed, the Gram Parson's gig just released is from the Avalon Ballroom, not the Filmore as previously stated. It is in fact still a fantastic live document of his brilliance. The spine of the CD is labeled Vol. 1, so I am assuming there will be more of these gems to come! (?)

BTW Congrats on the latest development. You are well on your way to a new career in the glamourous food industry. Giggle.

Matt, Now that you've had a go at the fryer, the grill, etc....be sure you study which smoker you can make Stephen the most money on...after all that's the "line" he'll be watching.....and by the way, cooking on a barrel, a cookshack or a southern pride means a day of non productivity while some poor dishwasher scrapes and chisels the thing clean for the health dept of nyc.......you need my research on the latest in smoker technology and the debut of the new friedrich....true meat packing industry smokehouse experts......now they give us bbq folk the chance to make it a "purist" event in a "corporate" chain setting! Much luck! Shelly....a.k.a. bbqpitstop
