Hey, I love beer! I am slightly sad to note that there are no Northwest brews represented on your list of fine slurpin' sudz. What about some Dechuttes Brewing Jubilale (7.6% alc.- the current favorite at the K/D household...nice for a cold winter day by the smoker) or KK's favorite Full Sail Amber...especially good on a hot summer day after a hike or a lot of yardwork.
Also of note: Red Hook Ales from Seattle, Rogue Ales (Shakespeare Stout or Dead Guy Ale...yummy, and check out the cool painted bottle labels) from Newport OR, Bridgeport Brewing (esp. Pintail ale and Blue Heron Ale), and lets's not forget the great Hair of the Dog "Fred" (which in many pubs has a strict two pint limit due to its very high alcohol content...of course, if you are drinking at home whilst tending to the 'Que, who's going to limit you then?) both from Portland. And oh so many more.
When you and the wife ever get your butts out here, we will go on a BBQ and Beer crawl that I promise you will never forget! (There are many reasons that Portland is often called BEER-VAHNNA!) (Oh, and tell Ms A. that she shouldn't worry, we can hook her with a fine bottle of hooch from Portland's own Clear Creek Distillery (very fine fruit brandies, among other things...think apple or pear side car action. Slurppin' good stuff!)
