See you in September
A little diversion from the 'que. Yellow tomato salad with fresh mozarella, a splash of some aged balsamic vinegar, fresh basil and red onion.
What's up wtih what's going down? Does a tree falling on the ocean with no one around make a sound? Barbecue, BBQ, Bar-b-que. It's all in how you sell it.

I grew some yellow tomatoes this year for the hell of it. I never had them before. They were out of this world!
So far it seems like this is going to be a great year for tomatoes. I wish I could grow them-- they're my big temptation at the farmer's market in Union Square. Especially the big, ugly heirlooms. These were pretty sweet ones.
Keep the coals glowing.
Ohmygod, those yellow tomatoes look awesome! My uncle has a place out in Sag Harbor and was lucky enough to spend a couple summer weekends with him. We would stop off at those little farm markets and buy nothing but yellow tomatoes. We had them as an app in a caprese salad and with swordfish and they were so delicious!
There's something about the produce on the east end of long island-- maybe it's the soil or something. The corn that we get out there is usually like candy, and it's not even that genetically engineered super-duper-sweet corn, either.
I sat down with a couple of $1 bags of tomatoes from the greenmarket last night and ate them as a snack-- the yellow ones are so darn amazing. Yum!
