The Hampton Smoker

What's up wtih what's going down? Does a tree falling on the ocean with no one around make a sound? Barbecue, BBQ, Bar-b-que. It's all in how you sell it.

The Return of the Grievous Angel

We popped Lois into her box, threw some clothes into our bags and headed out to the east end of Long Island for some much needed rest and to celebrate Amy's birthday.

Time is a bit short for telling the whole story right now, but we cooked up a huge mess of groceries including two full packer-cut briskets, an 11lb picnic shoulder, 2 big chickens, 2 racks of spare ribs, and some smoke dried thai peppers and scotch bonnets. Yummy! Melissa and Adria (spelling?) brought Salted Potatoes (all the way from Syracuse!) and cole slaw, Jeffrey and Jayne brough beer, champagne (ooh-la-la!) and a guitar, Rachel made salads, Amy made the beans and Hiroshi and I provided the 'que. Too bad, everyone didn't stay later, there was plenty to eat...

More pics and news later....chow!

Love the Gram Parsons reference!

MMM-MMMM-MMM...Wish I was there for those ribs, etc.

More mouth watering photos please (in smell-o-vision!).

Lois looks so happy in her nest. Does she enjoy a bit o' 'que now and then?

Peace,
TPDX

damn thoose ribs look damn good. I shoulda went out a little further on Long Island instead of stopping at Hooters!

Maybe you should think about competing. I heard a RUMOR that you were competing this summer.

Or maybe I just got a song stuck in my head.

LA LA DE DA,
LA LA DE DA,
LA LA DE DA,
ALL YOU GOTTA SAY IS LA DE DA

You know I love Gram, Timo. That song is a particular fave. I'm working on the smell-o-blog right as we speak, but I still wish you all were here at the table.

Thanks, WTBBQ. That means alot coming from you (note lack of sarcasm for a change). While my position on competing may not be clarified, you are still welcome to come and help feed the fire some time. Or to make a superteam...oh, you cook with the brethren, that's right (insert evil grin).
